Did you know that you can request library instruction for any of your classes? We tailor each information literacy session to fit the needs of your students and will emphasize resources and research skills that are specific to your discipline or assignment.
Outcomes
With consideration of the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, the library has developed the following outcomes for our information literacy sessions.
Instruction Face-to-Face
To schedule in-person library instruction sessions and/or library tours, please fill out our Library Instruction Request Form. When submitting the form, don't forget to email a copy of the research assignment your students will be working on to library@clevelandstatecc.edu.
If you are teaching a course on the main campus, we recommend the sessions be held in L217, the library's computer lab, so that students can participate. If you are teaching in Athens at the MHEC or at one of our area high schools, library instruction sessions can be held in an on-site computer lab or your classroom.
Synchronous & Asynchronous Instruction Online
In addition to Zoom and Google Meet live sessions, we can create videos to embed in your course website. If you would prefer a video, please contact the library at least two weeks in advance of when the video is required. To view the videos currently available, visit our YouTube Channel.
Tips for Great Library Instruction
Post Library Instruction Feedback
We can create online guides with resources tailored to your course and/or a specific assignment. See our catalog of LibGuides for examples of the types of content we can create in this form. Also, please email us (library@clevelandstatecc.edu) if you would like to update an existing guide.
Research Day
If you would like to schedule a day for your students to meet in the library and work on their own research, please email library@clevelandstatecc.edu. Librarians will be on hand to answer any questions about the library's resources and to troubleshoot access and other database issues. We request that either you or a substitute familiar with the assignment be present to answer questions and that you provide library staff with a copy of the research assignment at least 24 hours before the visit.
Research Consultations
We offer individual and small group research consultations in person and online via Google Meet. Students can make an appointment by completing the Research Assistance Request Form.
