How do I find books?

To find print and eBooks on your topic, search Primo, the Library's CatalogBe sure to select the Books and eBooks options from the drop down menu. In the lower right-side menu, select Full Text Online for eBooks or Held by Library for a physical book in the library.
       

Once you have your results list, you can filter for print or eBooks.       

Recommended search phrases:  American literature -- Colonial period, ca. 1600-1775 -- History and criticismAmerican literature -- 17th century -- History and criticismAmerican literature -- 18th century -- History and criticismAmerican literature -- 19th century -- History and criticism

Tip: If you are experiencing issues accessing books in Primo, try searching in one of our eBook databases. Remember that you can search multiple eBook collections simultaneously by using the EBSCOhost Choose Databases feature. 

Salem Press Reference Desk includes the Critical Insights series, which provides critical analysis of the following authors and their works: Raymond Carver, Willa Cather, William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Robert Frost, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ernest Hemingway, Langston Hughes, Cormac McCarthy, Flannery O'Connor, Sylvia Plath, Edgar Allan Poe, John Steinbeck, Mark Twain, John Updike, and Alice Walker.

Books found in WorldCat can be requested from other libraries by submitting an Interlibrary Loan Request Form. Be sure to plan ahead to allow time for the book to be delivered to the Cleveland State Library.
