About the Federal Depository Library Program

The Federal Depository Library Program is administered by the Superintendent of Documents, and adhering to Title 44 of the United States Code, the program makes government information resources freely and easily accessible by the public. There are currently about 1,200 federal depositories in the United States. As a selective depository, the Cleveland State Community College Library chooses which documents to receive beyond the required basic collection. Tennessee's regional depository library at the University of Memphis is one of the nation's 48 regional depositories, and it is the designated regional library for Tennessee. As a regional depository library, it is required to collect and retain all government documents.
